Art Battle brings live art competition to the Mile High City.

Denver loves a good pop-up, and a brand-new one is about to spring up. It’s called Art Battle, and it's a little different than a pop-up cocktail bar or boutique shop.

Art Battle is a live art competition that's set to take place at Your Mom's House—608 East 13th Ave.—on Wednesday, January 29, at 7:30 p.m. And spectators are welcome! Tickets start at $15 and are available online.

Art Battle is an exciting, one-of-a-kind competition where artists paint live in front of an audience, all vying for the name of Art Battle champion. The art is created in 20 minutes, and each artist is provided with acrylic paint and canvas, though they may bring their own materials and use whatever medium they want. It's an exciting evening of creativity and community, with a wide range of amazing art to see.

Twelve artists will compete in three 20-minute rounds and at the end of the night, one will be crowned the winner.

Winners are decided by the audience through a vote, so there's no telling where the night will go and what kinds of imaginative art will be created. Everything from fingerpainting to fine art is welcome, and there are no restrictions on creativity. The winners will also be given an opportunity to advance to further in competitions on a city, regional, national, and world level. All artwork will be available for purchase at a silent auction after the competition.

Artists who are interested can apply right here, as registration is still open. This is a 21-and-over event, and volunteers to help run Art Battle are welcome, just register online.

Art Battle is not a new event, it has actually been around for about 20 years, it just hasn’t happened yet here in Denver. It has been held in 20 countries around the world since its start in 2001 and has had over 1,800 events, making it a true celebration of global art from local and emergent artists.

With a vibrant art scene and lots of creative souls who call Denver home, we expect to see a big turnout as Art Battle becomes a regular event here in the city. What do you think about Art Battle coming to Denver? Give us the scoop in the comments.
