Help set up and maintain the community-sustained free libraries.

The Aurora Public Library is looking for book lovers in the city who would like to help expand the library's network of Little Free Libraries.

Little Free Libraries are small boxes that house a collection of books that people can borrow and return on their own time frame. Readers can also keep the book if they like it and replace it with another. The goal is to create a network of community-sustained little libraries with a constantly changing collection of titles.

Aurora Public Library will provide the Little Free Library itself, along with mounting materials and the initial collection of books. They will also help supplement the collection of titles, when possible.

There are some responsibilities that come along with being an ambassador for the Little Free Library. Those who adopt one must be ready to place the little library in accordance with all neighborhood, HOA, and city regulations. The library must also be available to everyone in the community, and the adopter will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Little Free Library collection, as well as the physical box itself.

Anyone who is an Aurora resident may apply to be an ambassador of one of the libraries, as well as businesses, schools, scout groups, and neighborhood and community organizations.

Those interested can fill out this simple form by Friday, December 27. Applicants must explain where the library will be located and why they want to adopt one of the Little Free Library boxes. If chosen, the Aurora Public Library will notify you.
