Authorities have identified a Haverhill woman who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Methuen Tuesday night.

Erika Newvill, 23, was fatally struck around 7:10 p.m., Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker said in a statement.

The driver of a 2014 Honda CR-V was driving down Merrimack Street when their vehicle hit Newvill near 301 Merrimack St., the district attorney said.

Newvill was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the district attorney said. Authorities are investigating this incident.

The driver stayed on the scene and worked with police, according to Methuen Police Chief Scott McNamara . Authorities are examining if poor lighting in the area may have contributed to the fatal collision.
