We can't handle the cuteness!

The Denver Zoo announced over the weekend that two of its Humboldt penguins, Alex and Besos, welcomed a new chick into the world. The chick is very cute and very small, and the zoo is working to make sure the baby has everything it needs to stay healthy and happy.

Adult Humboldt penguins mate for life, according to zoo officials, and these three make an adorable little family.

The Denver Zoo uses synthetic nesting materials to try and mimic the spaces that penguins will seek out in the wild. The synthetic materials are easier to clean and sanitize. Check out this video of the chick’s recent checkup, and listen to the new parents celebrate:

This little ball of fluff is a welcome addition to the Denver Zoo! We always love a new zoo baby, and this one is just cute as can be. We can’t wait to hear the new name for this little one and will keep you posted on any updates from the zoo.

The new baby penguin joins Tatu the lion cub, Kesi the mandrill, Miley Saurus the Saurus crane, and Calvin the baby bongo, among others. If you want a little more cuteness, just check out this video of Tatu enjoying his first snow!
