A man was killed in a shooting in Southeast D.C., and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating. Yesterday, around 11 a.m., officers from the Seventh District responded to reports of shots fired in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department , upon arrival, police found 39-year-old Derrick Howard, a Baltimore resident, unconscious and not breathing with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite efforts by first responders, Howard was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information should contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text the tip to 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering up to a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
