The Beer Spa brings unique beer-inspired beauty treatments to the Mile High.
It's no secret that the people of Denver love beer and self-care. And luckily for us, a new business is set to open in the Five Points neighborhood that seeks to blend the two together. The Beer Spa is soon to be part of the Denver bar scene, a concept that's popular in Europe but not a widespread thing here in the United States.
The Beer Spa will specialize in beer-inspired wellness therapy (yes, apparently that’s a thing—and yes, we love it!). The spa will be located at 3004 Downing Street in Whittier and is expected to open in March 2020.

The business will be a blend of taproom and day spa, with offerings such as beer bath hydrotherapy, where patrons will soak in a tub of beer, and a hop- and barley-infused sauna, as well as a zero-gravity massage chair. Plans for beer facials and other holistic beer-focused wellness treatments are also in the works. Jessica French, one of the co-founders of The Beer Spa, says on her LinkedIn page that this is a "new breed of day spa for craft beer enthusiasts."
The use of beer as a beauty and wellness agent is not a new concept and has been used in different capacities for years. In fact, there are several of these beer-themed wellness retreats in the Czech Republic and Austria, as well as two additional ones here in the states; one in California and one in Oregon.
The Denver-based Beer Spa will be treading new ground in the city as the first business in the state to offer both beauty treatments and happy hours. They plan to feature six different local breweries each month in the taproom, in addition to wine and kombucha.
The Beer Spa plans to be open from 10 a.m. through 9 p.m. on weekdays, staying open until 10 p.m. on the weekends. A private room will cost $99 for one hour, which includes a soak in the beer tub, an infrared sauna, and a shower session, with an option to add the massage chair for $20.
The Beer Spa is also offering a chance to win a $150 experience for two to those who register on the website.
French's partner, Damien Zouaoui, chose Denver for a variety of reasons, including demographics, tourism, and the fact that people in Denver share a love of beer. (Duh!)
