Rest easy, weary traveler.

If there's anything that blows my embers, it's a long cross-country haul across the good ol' USA, preferably during some sort of literature- or philosophy-induced existential crisis, with plenty of black coffee, a good friend, and old -- I mean OLD -- country music piped through whichever speaker decides to work that day. There's just something about long lonesome stretches of two-lane blacktop, the hum of 10,000 moving parts harmonizing at your command, and watercolor sunsets over the oceans, deserts, mountains, and plains that have prevented me from really settling anywhere for too long. The only problem is, these trips require quite a bit of money, and since I'm lacking in the trust fund department, I've thought long and hard about converting my truck for camping, and I know that you have, too -- that's why we want to relay some examples/tools of car camping that might spark an idea for you. Remember, always do your research, be mindful of carbon monoxide, and (for science's sake) don't litter.

Vans are always a good place to start.

In his free time, you'll find him carving mountain back roads in whatever car he's lent for the weekend, reading, writing, or unsuccessfully trying to replicate things shown on any of Anthony Bourdain's TV shows.
