The Shamrocks (23-2) knew it would be a blistering pace to start — and they matched the intensity of the Golden Eagles (18-6).

“They make you uncomfortable and they’ve got great pressure,” said Feehan coach Amy Dolores. “I’m really proud of how the kids responded, because it’s never the same — you try to simulate as much as you can, but it’s never exactly the same on a big stage.”

Lily Singer led all scorers with 16 points, Mollie Mullen had 14, and Addison Frenette (12) and Shannon LaMorticelli (11) also scored in double figures.

The Shamrocks opened with an 11-1 run, outscored the Golden Eagles by 12 in the second quarter, and never trailed. They got 32 points from their bench led by Frenette and LaMorticelli.

“It’s cool when different kids get opportunities to show up on the big stage, so it was really nice to see,” Dolores said. “All their teammates are very happy for them as well.”

Even on a day when the sharp-shooting Shamrocks only made four 3-pointers, they found consistent openings in the lane and outran the Golden Eagles — with the rotation offering enough rest for key players to get right back in and keep up the pace.

For the third straight year, the Shamrocks will play for the state title at the Tsongas Center. They hope it follows a similar script to last year.

“We like practicing and spending time together, so it’s nice to be able to have a couple more practices with them,” Dolores said. “They’re a special group.”
