Of the four Arlington teams participating in the Northern Virginia Swimming League , only the Dominion Hills Thunder Ducks will change divisions for the upcoming summer season. Dominion Hills will be in Division 8 this summer, down from Division 7, where the Thunder Ducks finished 1-4 last summer. The Overlee Flying Fish and the Donaldson Run Thunderbolts remain in Division 1, with the Arlington Forest Tigers returning to Division 9 where they finished with a 3-2 record in 2024. Overlee finished third at 3-2 and Donaldson Run 2-3 in Division 1. The annual realignment for the league’s 102 teams across 17 divisions was completed at a recent seeding meeting. The five-week summer regular season is slated to begin Saturday, June 14 at 9 a.m. Winning and losing records, the positions of finish in a division and the number of returning swimmers, are factors in determining seedings. There are six teams in each division. Division 1, for the strongest teams, remained unchanged from last season — a rare occurrence. Joining Overlee and Donaldson Run will be the defending champion Tuckahoe Tigers, Chesterbrook Tiger Sharks and Highlands Whomping Turtles, all from McLean, plus Old Keene Mill from Burke. Overlee has been in Division 1 every summer since 1962. Dominion Hills will be joined in Division 8 by Fairfax Station, Cottontail of Springfield, Camelot of Annandale, Mount Vernon Park and Lakeview of Fairfax. Joining Arlington Forest in Division 9 are Forest Hollow of Annandale, Dowden Terrace and Hollin Meadows of Alexandria, Lakevale Estates of Vienna and Kings Ridge of Fairfax. Last summer, Arlington Forest enjoyed its first winning season since 2016. In season-opening meets June 14, Overlee visits Old Keene Mill, Donaldson Run hosts Tuckahoe, Lakeview is at Dominion Hills and Kings Ridge is at Arlington Forest. Overlee visits Donaldson Run in an all-Arlington meet Saturday, July 14 at 9 a.m. The league-wide season-ending individual all-star meet is set for Saturday, July 26 at Pinecrest pool in Herndon.
