DENTON, Texas (KFDA) - The Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball team defeated Colorado Mesa by a score of 56-52 to win their first NCAA tournament game in program history.

The Greyhounds were up by one going into the half and stayed on top to finish the game out and win by four.

Jayla Smith ended out the game going 7-8 from the free-throw line to keep her team on top.

Three ENMU players were in double digits: Nataya Lockett (17), Kaitlyn Edmonson (12), and Jayla Smith (11).

The team combined for 42 rebounds, five more than that of their opponent.

As a team, they shot 36.7 percent from the floor, 42.9 percent from three, and 60 percent from the charity stripe.
