CANDLER COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - An inmate at the Twin City Jail faces several charges from multiple counties and the Georgia State Patrol- all after escaping the jail Sunday. WTOC is learning more from those different agencies on what it took to find him. Sunday Thomas Wright escaped and ran from the Twin City Detention Center in Emanuel County. He then proceeded to cross county lines. “Our special response team was requested about 9 p.m. last night to assist the fugitive task force in Twin City. So, while we were on scene, our Candler County deputies got a call for a stolen vehicle on the Northern end of the county,” said Candler County Sheriff’s Office Captain Justin Wells. Capt. Wells at Candler County Sheriff’s office said it would’ve been around a four mile walk to cross the county line into Candler County. There, officials told us Wright stole a White Chevrolet Tahoe parked on private property on Ollifftown Road. The manhunt went on till 1 a.m. until Georgia State Patrol caught him in Richmond County. “With computer systems and law enforcement databases and having everybody in the region looking out for it...it was eventually located in Richmond County where the vehicle was located and the subject was arrested,” said Capt. Wells. GSP tells us that they located the Tahoe through Flock cameras in Richmond County. Now, Thomas Wright faces charges in Emanuel County for escaping, multiple charges from GSP, and Captain Wells told WTOC his agency will be charging Wright for the stolen vehicle.
