GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Kansas City Royals have promoted top prospect and former Gator Jac Caglianone to Triple-A Omaha after his standout season thus far in Double-A Northwest Arkansas. The 2024 first-round pick out of Florida has climbed quickly through the Royals’ farm system while hitting .320 with nine home runs, 41 RBIs and 19 walks in 37 games for the Naturals. Drafted sixth overall just last year, he was third in the Texas League in home runs and led the league in RBIs. Royals General Manager J.J. Picollo has emphasized being patient with Caglianone and letting him continue to develop, but with run production being a notable issue for Kansas City this could speed things up. Starting now at left and right field in order to prepare for the call up when the time comes as well from first. We’re not in any rush to get him to Triple-A,” Picollo said. “Not saying it hasn’t been discussed. It’s just – there’s no timetable on it. We like what he’s doing. We’re happy with what he’s doing. We’re trying to allow him to develop properly as a hitter. When this offense settles in, that might be the proper time for him to come up." Click here to subscribe to our newsletter.
