The Engineers at GMC Hear You Out, Colorado
Need room for friends
and ski gear? Flipping a house in Denver and you need to haul materials? Going camping near Grand Junction? Want to take the boat or 5-wheel up to Grand Lake? Need a comfortable, reliable rig to take you and your horses into town? Want to throw an epic Broncos tailgate? Let's be honest, a nice 4x4 pickup is the perfect Colorado companion, and the 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation edition seems to fit the bill.
It's almost like the engineers at GMC went to Colorado for vacation, and brought it back to the drawing board in Detroit -- just by looking at the thing, it looks like it's ready to go bigfoot hunting.
And that's because it is.
The 2019 Sierra Elevation features packages not offered on other Sierra models like the X31 Off-Road Package -- which includes a locking rear differential, a good ol' two-speed transfer case, a heavy duty air filter, Hill Descent Control, skid plates, dual exhaust, Rancho shocks, specialized suspension tuning and, of course, all-terrain tires.
“With inherent truck capabilities and functionality, Elevation is able to take you off the beaten path along with your gear while standing out from the pack," said Rich Latek, GMC marketing director.

Then there are the options had on other Sierras, like your choice in engines (i.e. the classic 5.3 liter V8, the 2.7-liter turbo-four -- 310 hp, 348 lb/ft -- and a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline six). You also get all of the same tech as the GMC Infotainment System and the available ProGrade Trailering System that makes connecting and towing a trailer easier than ever.
It's clear GMC is trying to tailor its packages to certain customers, and the Elevation -- we'd say -- is more fly fisherman than farmer. “The 2019 Sierra Elevation conveys a youthful, athletic presence that demonstrates GMC’s tailored approach,” adds Latek.
Then again, we wouldn't complain about thrashing one of these through a muddy field either.
