One of the greatest players of all time looks to help keep his club unbeaten in the early weeks of the Major League Soccer season, as Lionel Messi and Inter Miami play host to Charlotte FC on Sunday. Both sides come into this contest having yet to lose a league match so far this year. Granted, both Miami and Charlotte have only played twice thus far. Miami, who is coming off the first leg of its CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 matchup with Cavalier, started off the season with a hard-fought 2-2 draw with New York City FC. Then, on the road last Sunday, Luis Suarez and Telasco Segovia led the charge in a 4-1 thrashing of the Houston Dynamo. Charlotte has had a similar story in the opening weeks of the 2025 campaign. On the road, the club managed to get a point after a 2-2 final score against the Seattle Sounders. Then, in its home opener last week, Charlotte took care of a really good Atlanta United team, winning 2-0.
