Morez Johnson Jr. is the second Illinois men's basketball player to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The 6-foot-9 freshman forward on Friday joined Carey Booth as the second Fighting Illini player from the 2024-25 roster to transfer, according to 247sports.com. Johnson appeared in 30 games, starting eight in row until a broken wrist sidelined him for five games. He averaged 7.0 points and 6.7 rebounds to go with 33 blocks. Johnson is a 2024 graduate of Harvey Thornton, where he was named Illinois Mr. Basketball during his senior season. Illinois finished this season at 22-13, losing to Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 this past weekend.
