FORT WORTH, Texas — PJ Haggerty's name is at the top of the AAC record books. Haggerty scored 42 points in Memphis' 83-80 win over Wichita State on Friday afternoon, tying a conference tournament record as he helped the top-seeded Tigers advance to the semifinals. Haggerty has a share of the record with Louisville's Russ Smith, who scored 42 points in a 2014 AAC tournament game. It was the first time this season that Haggerty scored 30 or more points in a game, and he shattered his previous career high of 32 points that he set last season when he was with Tulsa. And it was needed on an afternoon when the Tigers only had one other player (Dain Dainja) score in double digits. Friday was Haggerty's first game after he was named AAC player of the year and a second-team All-American by The Sporting News. He's entered Friday's game ranked No. 5 in the country in scoring at 21.2 points per game. The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday against either Tulane or FAU.
