Tuesday marked the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Owen Marsh Elementary School, with district and school officials in attendance.

The project is part of the district's "Our Schools Our Future" initiative, which includes developments such as Lanphier High School and the new field at Southeast High School.

"As we're moving into the new building, we take all of the culture and the spirit and the joy that's been in those two sides, the two rounds, and bring them into the new school and honor the past with a brand new future," said Superintendent Jennifer Gill.

The construction of the school is being funded by the 1 percent county sales tax increase that was passed in 2018.
