Cowboys, Chiefs to take center stage on Thanksgiving Day

Dallas owns a 34-22-1 record on Thanksgiving Day. Last season, it was a 27-20 victory over the New York Giants. The competition is just a bit more advanced this season, with the Chiefs coming to “Jerry World.” Making things even more interesting, this will be Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes ‘ first professional start in Arlington, Texas.

The Tyler, Texas, native has played the Cowboys just once — a 2021 matchup in Kansas City. Mahomes and the Chiefs defeated the Cowboys, 19-9. The rematch is set in what will be Kansas City’s first Thanksgiving Day game since 2006. They are 5-5 all-time on Thanksgiving Day. The Chiefs will also play on Christmas Day this season, an AFC West tilt against the Denver Broncos.

Kansas City has appeared in five of the last six Super Bowls, hoisting three Lombardi Trophies. The Cowboys, meanwhile, are coming off a disappointing 7-10 campaign, in which quarterback Dak Prescott missed the second half of the season with a hamstring injury.

Prescott’s return to action will come in Week 1 in an NFC East clash against the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, Sept. 4. The divisional rivalry will be renewed to begin the 2025 campaign. It will broadcast on NBC , Peacock , Telemundo , Universo , NFL+ .
