ALEXANDRIA — Police have announced Wednesday that a level three offender is living in Alexandria. There will be a community notification meeting regarding the status of Israel Jon Lenthe, 44, that's scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the Alexandria Police Department. During the meeting, representatives from the Minnesota Department of Corrections and the Alexandria Police Department will be available to provide information on public safety and to answer questions. Lenthe was released from prison on Feb. 24 and currently is homeless in Alexandria. He is white, 5'7", 158 pounds and has blue eyes, according to the DOC records. According to a fact sheet released by the police department, Lenthe engaged in multiple incidents of sexual contact against a female child. "Lenthe accessed the victim through his position of trust and authority," the fact sheet read. "He used the victim's confusion and naivete in an effort to maintain control." The charge on which Lenthe was convicted was criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, penetration or contact with a person under 13, court records show. The offense was committed in 2010.
