DOUGLAS CO., Minn. (KVRR) — Two people are rushed to a burn unit in the Twin Cities after a house fire near Lake Mary, south of Alexandria.

Douglas County Dispatch got the call around 11:30 Saturday morning to Wharry Heights Road and were told a woman was still in the home.

They arrived to find the house fully engulfed and a man covered in black soot after he rushed inside to save the woman.

They were taken to the hospital in Alexandria for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation before being moved by helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The house is considered a total loss.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
