POLSON — Whitefish’s Rachael Wilmot ran to wins in the 100 and 200 meters and Columbia Falls’ rode Lane Voermans, Oliver Kress and depth to the boys team title, to highlight the Nelson-Thomas ABC meet held Saturday.

Voermans outdueled Frenchtown’s Henry Griffin in the discus, throwing 167 feet, 4 inches, and was second in the shot put to Polson standout Astin Brown as the Wildcats picked up 101 points. Frenchtown was second at 82, followed by Corvallis (77), Bigfork (68.5), Whitefish (55.5) and Ronan (39).

Kress became the fifth Class A pole vaulter to clear 14 feet while winning that event for the Wildcats. Frenchtown’s Brody Hardy also cleared 14-0, and Kress won on criteria.

The 11-team meet invited many of the Western Class A teams along with Havre, and the Blue Ponies captured the girls team crown.

It was another fast meet. Corvallis sophomore Ayden Spencer ran the second-fastest boys 200 in Class A, 22.5 seconds, and his teammate Jack Davidson ran the second-best 3,200 in A, 9:44.94.

Whitefish’s Simon Douglas ran 4:19.89 in the 1,600, his personal record and the fastest time in Class A — with David DiGiallonardo clocking 4:25.04, fifth in A.

The Bulldogs’ Carson Gulick lowered his best time in the 110 hurdles to 15.66 (fourth in A), while Bigfork’s Austin Savik clocked 39.80 through the 300 hurdles. Only Frenchtown’s Hardy, who didn’t compete in the event Saturday but won the 110 hurdles, has gone faster in A (39.65).

The Vikings’ Tamret Savik hit his PR again in the triple jump, 45-6. Easton Brooks of Columbia Falls was second at 42-11, another PR. Savik sits No. 2 in Class; Brooks is now fifth.

Ronan’s Tayen Edmo (51.42) and Wade Qualtier both PR’d while finishing 1-2 in the 400; Preston McPherson of Whitefiish did the same while winning a tight 800 in 2:00.43.

Corvallis senior Hunter Loesch won the javelin with a mark of 212-5, his fourth throw over 200 feet this season.

Through 16 events — the long jump had not been posted at press time — Havre’s girls scored 92.5 points to lead the team race over Dillon (82.5). Hamilton (63), Frenchtown (62), Columbia Falls (54.5) and Whitefish (46.5) followed.

Wilmot edged Havre senior Kaydance Reiter in the 100 — running 12.64 seconds to Reiter’s 12.67 — and the 200. In the later she clocked a season-best time of 25.10, and Reiter came in at 25.57. Reiter still owns the fastest 200 in Class A this spring, 25.08.

Havre’s Macy Brannon won the 400 in 58.49 and was third in that 100 at 13.06. Wilmot didn’t run the 400 Saturday but was still the only double-winner besides Stevensville freshman Reagan Johnstone.

The Blue Ponies also had Roma Gum win the javelin with a Class A-best throw of 124-8 and ran the fastest 400 relay in the class (48.81, with Corvallis taking second at 49.10).

Johnstone won the 300 hurdles in a PR of 45.68 — the best time in Class A — and the triple jump.
